Sending Smiles to Your Deployed Warrior - Bake Me a Wish

A note from Beth:

I have a personal note and personal experience to share with you all today and I couldn't be more excited. My warrior is currently away doing what he does and was away for his birthday. I am a firm believer that no birthday, ever, should be without cake. I thought about cake in a jar, but I'm no Betty Crocker. I thought about a gift basket with a bunch of "man goodies" instead, but couldn't bear it. Enter Bake Me a Wish.

This AMAZING organization will send REAL cakes to your loved ones all over our great nation, which is wonderful since this incredible military life we lead doesn't often allow us the opportunity to share birthdays and special events with our families. (Check out The Freedom Cake - if you purchase this cake for yourself/family, they will donate and send a cake to a deployed service member in the name of your recipient). Wait, you mean TWO people get cake? Umm...sign me up! :-)

But wait! There's more! This brilliant little troop-supporting company will ALSO package and ship certain cakes to FPO/APO addresses through Operation: Birthday Cake! They package them especially for the trip. (Double win AGAIN - 5% of my purchase is donated to Soldiers Angels - one of the biggest troop supporting organizations worldwide "May No Soldier Go Unloved") Of course, my dear warrior HAD to receive one of these! This is a picture of what my warrior got in the mail:

How pretty is that?!?!?

I got a phone call from him that he received his box of deliciousness today. I asked him who he shared with and if he took a picture of the chow down. His response? "Babe, I could SMELL it through the packaging when I was opening it. This was no time for pictures" You know those moments where you can just FEEL their smile and their happiness radiating through the telephone from who-knows-how-many-miles away? THIS was one of those moments....and yes, I got teary eyed.

Don't judge me, just go send a cake ;-)
