  • 0800: Domestic Violence Training: AS-90, Marine & Family Programs The workshop's goal is the prevention and awareness of domestic violence. The Family Advocacy Program representatives shall provide education, support and awareness information aimed at fostering greater understanding of the risk factors and dynamics of child and domestic abuse. Emphasis is on the prevention, recognition, prompt notification and reporting and availability of responsive services. Special attention should be placed on training military leaders in identifying signs of child and domestic violence and appropriately use FAP referral procedures to address the needs of family violence. There are four areas in which people spend their money: gifts, entertaining, travel, and decorating. Each of these areas comes with hidden expenses.   • 0800: Before 'I Do' Marriage Foundation Workshop, Day 2 of 2: MCFTB Office Training Room, LC-4012A (Midway Park Marine & Family Annex. Before “I Do” Marriage Foundation Workshop: This two-day interactive class teaches couples how to thrive at marriage. Couples will definitely gain a greater understanding of one another, plus learn how to protect and strengthen their love for each other, setting them on course for greater marital success. The Before “I Do” workshop is designed for; engaged couples or couples married less than three years. Call 451-0176 to register.
  •  0800: BASIC - Bldg 302, Health Promotions. BASIC Training (Building Alcohol Skills Intervention Curriculum) is a “train the trainer” program designed to assist NCOs in providing guidance and direction to junior troops about how to drink responsibly. This Headquarters Marine Corps developed program can be designed to fit the unit’s schedule. This free workshop is open all active duty military. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register.

  • 0900: The ABCs of Buying & Selling: Russell Marine & Family Services, Bldg 40. MCCS Relocation Assistance Classroom.Come and learn the basics of Home Buying and Selling. This popular free workshop provides consumer information about what to look for when purchasing a home. A financial advisor is also on hand to provide information about mortgages, interest rates, VA loans and more! A reference library is also available.   • 0900: Budget for Baby Workshop: Workforce Learning Center, bldg 524 at the corner of McHugh and O. The Budget for Baby workshop will teach budgeting techniques & the impact a baby has on a family's finances. A FREE layette is available to all USMC/USN families who attend that class and are expecting a baby. The layettes contain brand name infant items and a handmade blanket.   • 1000: The Rapping Librarian Melvil Dewey performs at MCCS Tarawa Terrace Community Center!! Bring your kids out to see the Rapping Librarian, Melvil Dewey! This hip-hop event will be an experience your kids won't forget. Open to all authorized patrons. Please call 451-3026 for more information. Show starts at 1000.
  • 1130: EFMP Meet and Greet! Russell Marine & Family Services, Bldg 40: Exceptional Family Member Program will be hosting a Meet & Greet gathering the first Friday of every month. Come meet other EFMP families and learn about resources available on base. Free childcare will be available with advance reservation- call 451-2672. Refreshments will be provided.   • 1830: Harry Potter Night!!: Harriotte B Smith Library. Dress up as your favorite Harry Potter character for our costume contest; enjoy playing games, making edible crafts, art, movies, refreshments and more. Camp Lejeune:

  •  0600: Team Bass Tournament! : $1,000 Cash Payout Two-person teams fish for Largemouth Bass on the New River and its tributaries. The average prize is $2,500 based on 50 boats. Guarantee $1,000 cash prize per tournament. Trophies and cash prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Pre-register for $70 or $85 on the day of the event. Sponsor giveaways by drawings, and food and soft drinks are provided at weigh-in. Event open to the public. Active duty teams may participate through the usage of unit funds with permission from the unit’s Special Services Officer. Tournament starts at 0600 or safe light.   • 1400: MCCS Family Ball! Midway Park Community Center AND Tarawa Terrace Community Center! MCCS FAMILY BALL Join us for a military birthday ball celebration for the whole family! Join us at either MCCS Midway Park Community Center or MCCS Tarawa Terrace Community Center (you choose where you’d like to attend). The Family Ball features: • Buffet Dinner • Music & Dancing • Color Guard Performance • Traditional Birthday Cake Ceremony Guests will also have the opportunity to have family portraits taken and photo packages will be available for purchase (cash or check only). Open to all authorized patrons. Cost: $7 per person ages 11 and up; $5 per person ages 3-10; Free ages 2 and under. There’s probably not a more stressful time for both parents and children. This free workshop gives separated and divorcing parents the power to make positive changes to shield children from conflict and help establish a positive, long term relationship with the child’s other parent.
