Camp Lejeune:


  • 0530: Fall Kayaking Tours! Camp Johnson, behind bldg. 104. Enjoy a FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through beautiful waterways! Reserve your spot at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge Memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 12 and up. Upcoming Fall Kayaking Tour Dates: Oct: 25. VIEW THE FLYER!
  • 1830: Challenging Children workshop: Temper Tantrums: Bldg 40, Russell Marine & Family Services Center, Room 139. This free workshop will provide techniques for parents, childcare providers and educators to manage difficult behaviors. This free monthly workshop held on the 4th Tuesday of every month, is open to all ID card holders. Free childcare information will be shared upon registration please call 451-4103. (If you can’t make the evening workshops, we’ll be offering a daytime series as well. Please call 451-4103 for more information.)

  • 1500: Extreme Couponing for Everyday Families: New River MCFTB, AS - 232. Save Money in today's economy by using available coupons. This Workshop will include a Couponing workshop offered by CAT5 (a Couponing Club) and a section on budgeting as well as a "coupon swap". Open to all authorized patrons. Camp Lejeune:


  • 1100: Challenging Children Workshop - Practical Application: Bldg 40, Russell Marine & Family Services, Room 139. What can you do when your child starts screaming in a crowded area for no reason? How should you react? How can we help our children have better behavior in any situation? This daytime workshop presented by Butterfly Effects for parents, educators and childcare providers will provide insight into the actions of those more challenging children and what they can do to alleviate some of the problems.   • 1200: Camp Johnson Library "Lunch 'N' Books": Choose a frightening book from our collection and be ready to join a scary discussion at this free lunch book club social. Stop by Paradise Point Golf Course every Thursday for Twisted Thursdays and say goodbye to traffic! Enjoy a different format each week with no restrictions. The $12 entry fee includes your greens fee and cart rental. Show time is 1700, tee off at 1730.   • 0800: New River Welcome Aboard Brief: New River Enlisted Club. Welcome Aboard Briefs are an opportunity for newcomers aboard MCAS New River to become oriented with their new duty station and the surrounding community. In accordance with MCO and ASO 1754.2A all E7 and below and 0-4 and below are required to attend, however, all military, dependents, and DoD personnel are welcome to come. For more information call Marine & Family Programs at 449-5258
  • 0900: Family Care Plan Workshop: New River MCFTB - AS-232. Find out how valuable the Family Care Plan is, and the components it contains. Legal will be on hand to discuss the different kinds of wills and notarize powers of attorney. *Marine Corps Order 1740.13A requires all single-parent Marines and dual active duty military couples to complete a Family Care Plan. For more information or to register call 449-5343
  •  1300: Effects of Divorce/Remarriage on Children: New River MCFTB, AS-232. This is a three hour class to educate parents about the possible impact of divorce on children when they are coping with the painful and agonizing breakup of their family. Topics of discussion include typical reactions of children of different ages, things children need to know and hear, tips for single parenting again, and what both parents can do to help their children deal with and adjust to the losses and changes involved. Issues surrounding the remarriage of one or both parents will also be presented and tips to help step-parents and children adjust to a new family. Call 449-6110 to reserve your seat. A shorter class is available for interested command or other agency training purposes.
  • 1700: CHILDRENS' HALLOWEEN PARTY!: New River Enlisted Club. Join us for our annual childrens' Halloween Party! We will have prizes, games, costume contest (ages: 0-3, 4-8, 9-12), and a cake walk sponsored by the SNCO Wives.   •  1500: Family Pumpkin Bash : MCCS Tarawa Terrace Community Center. Join us for some FREE Halloween family fun! Costumes are encouraged, but NOT required. Enter the Pumpkin Decorating Contest by bringing in a carved/decorated pumpkin for one of the following categories: Funniest Pumpkin, Scariest Pumpkin, Best Use of recycled materials, and Best Overall Pumpkin. We'll also have crafts, games & prizes, pony rides, inflatables, face painting, colorful hairspray, scary ghost stories, and a mummy wrapping competition. No registration necessary. (No commercial products). $5.00 per table with limit of two tables by COB 24 October. $7 per table afterwards. Open to all authorized patrons.   • 1300: Beyond the Brief Spa Day Workshop - Juggling the Stress of Deployment: New River Marine & Family Annex, AS-232. This Beyond the Brief workshop is to help you learn more about the deployment cycle with practical tips and techniques to cope with the stress. We will spend time in a "Spa" atmosphere with emphasis on caring for the caregiver. For workshop information please call the MCFTB at 449-5343. 
  • 1900: Youth & Teen Halloween Spooktacular! New River Youth & Teen Activity Center. Enjoy a variety of games and activities with a DJ spinning the tunes. Food and refreshments will be provided.
