  6 September - Tuesday
Camp Lejeune:


****YOUTH SPORTS INDOOR/OUTDOOR SOCCER REGISTRATION****

  • 0930: Nutrition Workshop: Bldg 510, N Street - Marine Division Training Center. FREE workshop covers healthy food choices; lifestyle and behavioral modifications; macronutrients; nutrition traps, trends & fast food; nutrition for exercise & health; and supplement use & abuse. Open to authorized patrons ages 12 and up. No pre-registration required. Space is limited; first come, first served. For more information, call 910-451-0471. View the flyer! 
  • 1000: Well Baby Clinic: Tarawa Terrace Community Center. The Well Baby Clinic is sponsored by our Visiting Nurses who are there to weigh & measure your child as well as answer any questions about your child's health. The clinic also offers a FREE clothing exchange and open to all military families with military ID card. Call 451-5346/5584 for more information. 
  • 1730: Fall Kayaking Tour: Scales Creek, Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18. View the flyer!
  • 1830: Beyond the Brief: MCFTB Office, Bldg LC 4012-A Butler Drive, Midway Park. This workshop provides participants the opportunity to work through their concerns through discussions and group activities. Together with the help of professionals and fellow spouses they will identify situations that produce stress, anxiety and fears and then the ways to deal with it.


New River:
  • 1700: Intramural Flag Football Organizational Meeting: New River Fitness Center. Open to all active duty stationed aboard New River, their dependants, and New River DoD employees 18 and over. Call 449-0294/5609



  7 September- Wednesday

****Poplar Grove Farmers Market 8am-1pm. Highway 17, south of Hampstead****

Camp Lejeune:

  • 1130: Retiree Luncheon: Onslow Beach Gazebo. Join us for lunch by the sea. Deluxe portion $7, regular portion $4. See menu below. Open to authorized patrons. Purchase advance tickets by 1200 on 1 Sep at the Onslow Beach Office or by phone at 910-110-6546. View the flyer!

New River: 


  • 0830: Pre-Marital Workshop, Day 1 of 2: AS-232, New River MCFTB. This 2-day workshop for engaged couples is designed to provide insights and knowledge of the marriage relationship. Discuss topics such as investing in your marriage, what predicts divorce, communication, finanancial responsibility, in-laws and dangerous behavior that all impact the relationship. For more information or to register, call 449-5343.

  • 0800: Before "I Do" - Marriage Foundation Workshop Day 1 of 2: MCFTB Office Training Room, LC-4012A (Midway Park Marine & Family Annex) . This two-day interactive class teaches couples how to thrive at marriage. Couples will definitely gain a greater understanding of one another, plus learn how to protect and strengthen their love for each other, setting them on course for greater marital success. The Before “I Do” workshop is designed for; engaged couples or couples married less than three years. Call 451-0176 to register.
  • 0930 -1230: OWC Welcome Aboard: Evening Session: 5:30pm-8:00pm Paradise Point Officers’ Club Join us at the Follow Me Bar after the Evening Session
  • 1300: Taking Control of Your Finances:Bldg 302, Holcomb Blvd. This interactive training session covers the basics of starting a personal financial plan. Participants focus on developing realistic and measurable personal financial goals. Maintaining a workable budget to include savings, understanding military pay, and managing your credit/checkbook are further explored. All ID cardholders can register for this free workshop, please call 910-451-2865.
  • 1700: Twisted Thursdays at Paradise Point Golf Course:  Want to skip traffic on Thursday afternoons? Stop by Paradise Point Golf Course every Thursday for Twisted Thursdays and say goodbye to traffic! Enjoy a different format each week with no restrictions. The $12 entry fee includes your greens fee and cart rental. Show time is 1700, tee off at 1730. Meet new people, end the workday on a good note, and, best of all, don’t sit in traffic on Thursdays anymore! Please call 451-5445

  •   0800: New River Welcome Aboard Brief at New River Enlisted Club:Welcome Aboard Briefs are an opportunity for newcomers aboard MCAS New River to become oriented with their new duty station and the surrounding community. In accordance with MCO and ASO 1754.2A all E7 and below and 0-4 and below are required to attend, however, all military, dependents, and DoD personnel are welcome to come.   • 1900: SMP MOVIE NIGHT AT STATION THEATER! Check out a completely free movie and snacks at the base theater. The show is completely free so there’s no reason not to check it out! Doors open at 1830, movie starts at 1900. Open to all active duty and their guests 18 and over.

  • 0800: BASIC - Building Alcohol Skills Intervention Curriculum: Bldg 302, Holcomb Blvd.  “train the trainer” program designed to assist NCOs in providing guidance and direction to junior troops about how to drink responsibly. This Headquarters Marine Corps developed program can be designed to fit the unit’s schedule. This free workshop is open all active duty military. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register.
  • 1900: Moonlight Kayaking: Enjoy a beautiful and relaxing evening on the water with a 3-hour guided kayak tour. Experienced required. Cost is $10 per person. Register and pay by Wed, 7 Sep at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge Memorial Field House. First come; first served; space limited. Open to all authorized patrons ages 15 and up. Patrons under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian. VIEW THE FLYER! 

New River:
  • 1930: While We Wait Club: New River AS-232, MCFTB. Children of military families experience a profound impact emotionally as their parent cycles through deployment. This club like atmosphere will be a safe place for children to do "In the Midst" activities. This month the theme will be "Under the Big Top." We will be creating items to send to loved ones who are deployed, playing games, and doing fun activities that emphasize making positive choices when we have difficult feelings. Call to reserve your spot today! Space is limited! Open to children ages kindergarten through 5th grade who have a parent deployed or away. Call 449-5343 to register.

  10 September- Saturday
Camp Lejeune:



  •  0600: Team Bass Tournament: Gottschalk Marina. $1,000 Cash Payout Two-person teams fish for Largemouth Bass on the New River and its tributaries. The average prize is $2,500 based on 50 boats. Guarantee $1,000 cash prize per tournament. Trophies and cash prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Pre-register for $70 or $85 on the day of the event. Sponsor giveaways by drawings, and food and soft drinks are provided at weigh-in. Event open to the public. Active duty teams may participate through the usage of unit funds with permission from the unit’s Special Services Officer. Tournament starts at 0600 or safe light. View the Flyer!
  • 0800: Freestyle Wrestling Invitational: Goettge Memorial Field House. Show off your skills on the mat in this single-elimination wrestling tournament. FREE to compete; FREE event admission. Open to authorized male patrons. Weight classes: 121, 132, 145, 163, 184, 211 and HWT (over 211/under 264). Register and submit Letter of Intent to the Intramural Sports Office in Goettge Memorial Field House between 29 Aug-6 Sep. Letter of intent forms may be downloaded from mccslejeune.com/sports or picked up in the Intramural Sports Office View the flyer!
  • 1500: End of Summer Celebration: Midway Park Community Center: FREE! Watermelon eating contest, games, prizes, picnic (ticket required), DJ, face painting, and more! Kids – wear your swimsuits for some water fun! Register for picnic ticket in person at MCCS Midway Park Community Center by 24 Aug. Open to authorized patrons.   • SMP Paintball Trip!! Southwest Paintball in Jacksonville. Enjoy a fun-filled day of fast-paced, heart-pumping paintball action! Test your skills against your friends, your unit, or anyone else you wish. Depart from E’ Club at 1000, return approximately 1700. Cost is $30, and includes transportation, gear rental, lunch, field days and all day air. Cost is just $15 if you have your own equipment. Register By 9/7/11. Call 449-5145 for more information.
