****YOUTH SPORTS INDOOR/OUTDOOR SOCCER REGISTRATION****

  • 0830: Stress Management Workshop Bldg 302, Health Promotions, Holcomb Blvd..Experiencing Depression? Apathy? Anger? Anxiety? These feelings are just some of the symptoms stress can cause. Learning to identify the causes and symptoms of stress can help you successfully manage daily hassles and major life stressors. Discover new ways to relieve stress and begin the journey towards being stress free. This free workshop is open all ID cardholders. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register.
  • 0930: Ready, Set, GROW! Principles of Healthy Relationships: Commander Charles K. Springle Training Center Bldg 797 (behind Russell Marine & Family Center, Bldg 40). This FREE workshop, taught by licensed professionals from Military & Family Life Consultants, can help you: identify the stages of marriage, understand the importance of positive self-esteem, and develop tools to create and maintain a healthy relationship/marriage. Each 90 minute session is the same. Call the Community Counseling Center at 451-2864 to register for the time slot that best fits your schedule. Open to all authorized patrons.
  • 1730: Fall Kayaking Tour: Scales Creek, Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18. View the flyer!
  • 1830: Beyond the Brief: MCFTB Office, Bldg LC 4012-A Butler Drive, Midway Park. This workshop provides participants the opportunity to work through their concerns through discussions and group activities. Together with the help of professionals and fellow spouses they will identify situations that produce stress, anxiety and fears and then the ways to deal with it.


New River:
  • 0900: LINKS for Spouses, Day 1: AS-232. Looking for something new and different? Come and learn about the military way of life! This event is a two day workshop. Free and open to any and all spouses of our military branches. For more information, call 449-4676/5343.
  • 1300: Stress & Anger Management Classes, Series 4, Part 1 of 4: AS-90, Marine & Family Service. Stress Management Part I : Are you feeling Overwhelmed? Burned out? Stressed out? Why not treat yourself to a stress management workshop. In this first class, you will learn the basic principles of stress management. Call 449-6110 to reserve your seat.

  • 0830 Anger Management Workshop: Bldg 302, Health Promotions, Holcomb Blvd..Got Anger? Out of control rage and angry actions cause hurt, pain, and distress. Understanding the root cause of anger can help you transform your life. Learn how to discharge and express anger in appropriate ways. Move towards managing your anger instead of letting your anger control you. This free workshop is open all ID cardholders. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register.
  • 1600: Bench Press Competition at the HITT Gym! FREE to compete! Weigh-ins begin at 1600; safety brief at 1645; competition begins at 1700. Plus learn lifting techniques during the Strength Gain Demo. Register at any fitness facility up to the day of the event. Open to authorized patrons.   • 1830: Re-Entry DocuDrama: Bldg 40, Russell Marine & Family Services Center. Military spouses and family members are encouraged to attend this powerful, raw, and riveting docudrama that was written exclusively from interviews with Marines and their families. ReEntry is about the reentry process that a combat veteran or a military person goes through when they are trying to acclimate back to society, or are being reintroduced to their families or the work force.   • 0800: Domestic Violence Training: AS-90, Marine & Family Programs . This workshop's goal is the prevention and awareness of domestic violence. The Family Advocacy Program representatives shall provide education, support and awareness information aimed at fostering greater understanding of the risk factors and dynamics of child and domestic abuse. Emphasis is on the prevention, recognition, prompt notification and reporting and availability of responsive services. Special attention should be placed on training military leaders in identifying signs of child and domestic violence and appropriately use FAP referral procedures to address the needs of family violence.   • 1800: Home Buying & Home Selling Class: AS-232 Classroom. This class is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to buy or sell a home.   • 0800: Before "I Do" - Marriage Foundation Workshop Day 1 of 2: MCFTB Office Training Room, LC-4012A (Midway Park Marine & Family Annex) . This two-day interactive class teaches couples how to thrive at marriage. Couples will definitely gain a greater understanding of one another, plus learn how to protect and strengthen their love for each other, setting them on course for greater marital success. The Before “I Do” workshop is designed for; engaged couples or couples married less than three years. Call 451-0176 to register.
  • 0900: Moving Overseas Workshop: Bldg 40 Russell Marine & Family Services. The Moving Overseas Workshop provides an informative overview of the process and procedures involved when performing a PCS transfer to an overseas location. Topics covered include: travel and pay entitlements, shipping personal property, POV entitlements, moving tips, cultural aspects, COLA, housing information, passport requirements, Military OneSource, Military Home Front and accessing services at the new duty station.   • 1300: Job Fair Preparation Workshop: Building 40, Russell Marine & Family Services Building AUDITORIUM. Are you getting out soon? Gather tips on landing a job at this free workshop. We’ll give you information on how to dress appropriately, what to bring with you, what types of questions you should expect from employers and what questions you should have for the employers. We’ll assist you in ensuring you are well prepared for the Camp Lejeune Job Fair, Thu, 29 Sep. Open to all ID cardholders, please call 451-3212. You must pre-register for this workshop.
  • 1700: Twisted Thursdays at Paradise Point Golf Course:  Want to skip traffic on Thursday afternoons? Stop by Paradise Point Golf Course every Thursday for Twisted Thursdays and say goodbye to traffic! Enjoy a different format each week with no restrictions. The $12 entry fee includes your greens fee and cart rental. Show time is 1700, tee off at 1730. Meet new people, end the workday on a good note, and, best of all, don’t sit in traffic on Thursdays anymore! Please call 451-5445
New River: 
  •   0900: Police Department Testing: AS-233, New River Chapel Annex. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will be administering the Darany Entry Level Police Officer Examination on MCAS New River FREE OF CHARGE. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in pursuing a Law Enforcement career to assess where their strengths and weaknesses are. There will be a short presentation before the test begins and a period for questions and answers. You do not need to be interested in staying in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area to take this test. Open to all active duty, DoD personnel, veterans and their spouses. Pre-registration is required at 449- 6110.
  • 1030: LINKS for Parents & Extended Family Members: CAMP GEIGER IVY HALL, Room 123. L.I.N.K.S. for Marine parents and extended family members focuses on parents and the extended family new to the Marine Corps community. The program offers an orientation to the Marine Corps lifestyle, helping the participant better understand the unique challenges military life often presents. With an increased level of understanding comes an increased ability to provide support and advice as the parent or family member of a Marine. For more information call 449-5343/4676.
  •  1300: Healthy Dating: How NOT to Marry a Jerk or Jerkette: AS-232, Marine & Family Annex.  This class discusses dating skills based on the Random Attachment Model. Open to all authorized patrons. Pre-register 5 days prior to event at 449-5343.
  • 1500: SMP COUNCIL MEETING - New River Enlisted Club. 
  • 1800 SMP BARRACKS BASH! AS-4004. Get outside and join SMP for some outdoor fun and games! Enjoy the warmer weather with hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks We’ll have tons of fun activities and toys, great music and more! 
  • 1800: Masquerade Party & Game Fest at the Station Library. Tweens and Teens will meet at the library for a Masquerade Party and Game Fest! Group gaming will include a variety of Board /Card games,Wii, and iPad Games! Light dinner will be served. Wear black and/or white attire--Masks provided! Open to all authorized patrons 10 - 17.   • 0900: Budget for Baby Workshop: Bldg 524, Workforce Learning Center. The Budget for Baby workshop will teach budgeting techniques & the impact a baby has on a family's finances. A FREE layette is available to all USMC/USN families who attend that class and are expecting a baby. The layettes contain brand name infant items and a handmade blanket. Call 451-5346/5584 to register. Class is available to all active duty , retirees & dependents with valid military ID

New River:
  • 1000: Spa Day Workshop: New River AS-232, MCFTB. Learn more about the deployment cycle with practical tips and techniques to cope with the stress in this Beyond the Brief event. We will spend time in a "Spa" atmosphere with emphasis on caring for the caregiver. Free On-Site Child Care! Call for registration Requirements. All participants must call to register. 
  • 1600: EFMP Track & Field Meet!! New River Field, next to the Fitness Center. Children with special needs and their siblings are invited to participate in a traditional Track and Field Event. Open to all military children with special needs and their siblings age 2 and up (2 groups 2-4 yrs old and 5 and up). Register by Sept 9 at 449-4894 or email boothgl@usmc-mccs.org.

  17 September- Saturday
Camp Lejeune:



  •  0900: Family Fun Run: Tarawa Terrace Community Center.Join us once a month for a FREE Family Run/Walk. Every run includes a 5K option in addition to the scheduled run/walk distance. View the Flyer!
  • 1200: Cooking Class: Midway Park Community Center. FREE cooking class. September theme: Tailgating with Style! Open to authorized patrons age 8 and up. Register by Wed, 14 Sep by calling (910) 451-1807. View the flyer!
  • 1700: GARY SINISE & THE LIEUTENANT DAN BAND!!!:   FREE! Liversedge Field. Rock out with the world-famous Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan Band with special appearance by opening act Mike Corrado, singer/songwriter and United States Marine. This FREE concert is open to all authorized patrons and their guests. Gates Open at 1700 Showtime 1830 Great lawn seating is available, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs! Coolers are allowed, too, but alcohol may not be brought in to the event. Food and beverage concessions will also be available.

  18 September - Sunday 

 
Camp Lejeune:


  • Kayak Fishing on Courthouse Bay: Courthouse Bay Marina. Cost is $5.00 and includes a kayak and guide. Bring your fishing gear! Meet at the Marina. Register and pay at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge Memorial Field House. First come; first served; space limited. Open to all authorized patrons ages 12 and up. Patrons under 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian.
