  • 0830 Stress Management Workshop: Bldg 302, Health Promotions, Holcomb Blvd..Experiencing Depression? Apathy? Anger? Anxiety? These feelings are just some of the symptoms stress can cause. Learning to identify the causes and symptoms of stress can help you successfully manage daily hassles and major life stressors.   • 1730: Fall Kayaking Tour! Enjoy a FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through beautiful waterways! Reserve your spot at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge Memorial Field House.   • 1830: Beyond the Brief Workshop Series: MCFTB Office Bldg LC 4012-A Butler Drive, Midway Park. Participants learn that the CACO process is a part of the military culture and that every spouse should understand how the process works, when it is implemented and why it is carried out in the manner it is. Clearly yet sensitively, all aspects are discussed, notification through benefits. This workshop is a must for all spouses, and for all situations. Spouses should feel free to ask questions in a small intimate setting
  •  1830: Emergency Preparedness Workshop: MCFTB Office Bldg LC 4012-A Butler Drive, Midway Park. MCFTB presents “Emergency Preparedness.” Safety begins with awareness. This two hour interactive workshop will enable you to be better prepared for potential natural and manmade hazards that can threaten your life. Knowledge is confidence and confidence begins with being informed. 
  • 1830: Challenging Children Workshop - Token Systems: Bldg 40, Russell Marine & Family Services Center, Room 139. This free workshop will provide techniques for parents, childcare providers and educators to manage difficult behaviors. This event is open to active duty personnel, military retirees, their families, Camp Lejeune and New River employees, and Coastal Carolina Community College students.   • 0830: Cooperative Parenting & Divorce Workshop: MCFTB Training Rm – LC 4012A Butler Dr., Midway Park, Marine & Family Programs Annex. This workshop offers valuable insights to couples going through a divorce. There’s probably not a more stressful time for both parents and children. This free workshop gives separated and divorcing parents the power to make positive changes to shield children from conflict and help establish a positive, long term relationship with the child’s other parent. The Family Advocacy Program representatives shall provide education, support and awareness information aimed at fostering greater understanding of the risk factors and dynamics of child and domestic abuse. Emphasis is on the prevention, recognition, prompt notification and reporting and availability of responsive services. Special attention should be placed on training military leaders in identifying signs of child and domestic violence and appropriately use FAP referral procedures to address the needs of family violence.   •   0900: Police Department Testing: AS-233, New River Chapel Annex. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will be administering the Darany Entry Level Police Officer Examination on MCAS New River FREE OF CHARGE. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in pursuing a Law Enforcement career to assess where their strengths and weaknesses are. There will be a short presentation before the test begins and a period for questions and answers. You do not need to be interested in staying in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area to take this test.   • 1030: LINKS for Parents & Extended Family Members: CAMP GEIGER IVY HALL, Room 123. L.I.N.K.S. for Marine parents and extended family members focuses on parents and the extended family new to the Marine Corps community. The program offers an orientation to the Marine Corps lifestyle, helping the participant better understand the unique challenges military life often presents.   •  1300: Healthy Dating: How NOT to Marry a Jerk or Jerkette: AS-232, Marine & Family Annex.  This class discusses dating skills based on the Random Attachment Model. Open to all authorized patrons. Pre-register 5 days prior to event at 449-5343.

  • 1800: Masquerade Party & Game Fest at the Station Library. Tweens and Teens will meet at the library for a Masquerade Party and Game Fest!   • 0900: Budget for Baby Workshop: Bldg 524, Workforce Learning Center. The Budget for Baby workshop will teach budgeting techniques & the impact a baby has on a family's finances. A FREE layette is available to all USMC/USN families who attend that class and are expecting a baby. The layettes contain brand name infant items and a handmade blanket.   •  0900: Family Fun Run: Tarawa Terrace Community Center.Join us once a month for a FREE Family Run/Walk. Every run includes a 5K option in addition to the scheduled run/walk distance. View the Flyer!
  • 1200: Cooking Class: Midway Park Community Center. FREE cooking class. September theme: Tailgating with Style! Open to authorized patrons age 8 and up. Register by Wed, 14 Sep by calling (910) 451-1807. View the flyer!
  • 1700: GARY SINISE & THE LIEUTENANT DAN BAND!!!:   FREE! Liversedge Field. Rock out with the world-famous Gary Sinise and the Lieutenant Dan Band with special appearance by opening act Mike Corrado, singer/songwriter and United States Marine. This FREE concert is open to all authorized patrons and their guests. Gates Open at 1700 Showtime 1830 Great lawn seating is available, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs! Coolers are allowed, too, but alcohol may not be brought in to the event. Food and beverage concessions will also be available.

****YOUTH SPORTS INDOOR/OUTDOOR SOCCER REGISTRATION****

  • 0930: Nutrition Workshop: Bldg 510, N Street - Marine Division Training Center. FREE workshop covers healthy food choices; lifestyle and behavioral modifications; macronutrients; nutrition traps, trends & fast food; nutrition for exercise & health; and supplement use & abuse.   • 1000: Well Baby Clinic: Tarawa Terrace Community Center. The Well Baby Clinic is sponsored by our Visiting Nurses who are there to weigh & measure your child as well as answer any questions about your child's health.   • 1730: Fall Kayaking Tour: Scales Creek, Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways!   • 1830: Beyond the Brief: MCFTB Office, Bldg LC 4012-A Butler Drive, Midway Park. This workshop provides participants the opportunity to work through their concerns through discussions and group activities. Together with the help of professionals and fellow spouses they will identify situations that produce stress, anxiety and fears and then the ways to deal with it.

This two-day interactive class teaches couples how to thrive at marriage. Couples will definitely gain a greater understanding of one another, plus learn how to protect and strengthen their love for each other, setting them on course for greater marital success. Participants focus on developing realistic and measurable personal financial goals. Maintaining a workable budget to include savings, understanding military pay, and managing your credit/checkbook are further explored.   • 1700: Twisted Thursdays at Paradise Point Golf Course:  Want to skip traffic on Thursday afternoons? Stop by Paradise Point Golf Course every Thursday for Twisted Thursdays and say goodbye to traffic! Enjoy a different format each week with no restrictions. The $12 entry fee includes your greens fee and cart rental. Show time is 1700, tee off at 1730.   • 0800: BASIC - Building Alcohol Skills Intervention Curriculum: Bldg 302, Holcomb Blvd.  “train the trainer” program designed to assist NCOs in providing guidance and direction to junior troops about how to drink responsibly. This Headquarters Marine Corps developed program can be designed to fit the unit’s schedule. This free workshop is open all active duty military. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register.
  • 1900: Moonlight Kayaking: Enjoy a beautiful and relaxing evening on the water with a 3-hour guided kayak tour. Experienced required. Cost is $10 per person.   • 1930: While We Wait Club: New River AS-232, MCFTB. Children of military families experience a profound impact emotionally as their parent cycles through deployment. This club like atmosphere will be a safe place for children to do "In the Midst" activities. This month the theme will be "Under the Big Top." We will be creating items to send to loved ones who are deployed, playing games, and doing fun activities that emphasize making positive choices when we have difficult feelings.   •  0600: Team Bass Tournament: Gottschalk Marina. $1,000 Cash Payout Two-person teams fish for Largemouth Bass on the New River and its tributaries. The average prize is $2,500 based on 50 boats. Guarantee $1,000 cash prize per tournament. Trophies and cash prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Pre-register for $70 or $85 on the day of the event. Sponsor giveaways by drawings, and food and soft drinks are provided at weigh-in. Event open to the public.   • 0800: Freestyle Wrestling Invitational: Goettge Memorial Field House. Show off your skills on the mat in this single-elimination wrestling tournament. FREE to compete; FREE event admission.
