  9 August - Tuesday
Camp Lejeune:


  • 0930: Ready, Set, GROW! Workshop Series - Making Effective Decisions: Commander Charles K. Springle Training Center Bldg 797 (behind Russell Marine & Family Programs Center, Bldg 40). Learn an eight step decision making process, recognize the “Do’s & Don’ts” of decision making, and identify characteristics of effective decision makers. Free childcare information and process will be shared upon registration. Each 90 minute session is the same. Call the Community Counseling Center at 451-2864 to register for the time slot that best fits your schedule. Open to all authorized patrons.   • 1000: CANCELED!!! Well Baby Clinic: Midway Park Chapel. The Well Baby Clinic is sponsored by our Visiting Nurses who are there to weigh & measure your child as well as answer any questions about your child's health. The clinic also offers a FREE clothing exchange and open to all military families with military ID card. Call 451-5346/5584 for more information.  
  • 1700: Kayak in the Sun: Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18.

New River:
  • Kid's Day 2011 POSTPONED due to weather conditions and safety concerns. Stay tuned for the new date!!

  • SMP Lazy Lounge Lizards!!!: New River Enlisted Club. Join us for lazy days in the lounge; kick back, relax and de-stress with movie madness, X-Box live tournaments, games and tons of fun in the new SMP lounge!
  • 1000: Beyond the Brief Workshop - Hurricane Preparedness: AS-232 New River MCFTB. This workshop will help prepare you in the case of a Hurricane. This will help you create an action plan for your family in case of an emergency. Leave the class with a sense of security that you will know what to do in case of a weather emergency. Free childcare is available, please call for requirements. Advance registration is required, call 449-5343 to reserve your spot.

  • 0800: Before "I Do": Marriage Foundation Workshop - Day 1: MCFTB Office Training Room, LC-4012A (Midway Park Marine & Family Annex). This two-day interactive class teaches couples how to thrive at marriage. Couples will definitely gain a greater understanding of one another, plus learn how to protect and strengthen their love for each other, setting them on course for greater marital success. The Before “I Do” workshop is designed for; engaged couples or couples married less than three years. Call 451-0176 to register.

  • 1700: Twisted Thursdays at Paradise Point Golf Course:  Want to skip traffic on Thursday afternoons? Stop by Paradise Point Golf Course every Thursday for Twisted Thursdays and say goodbye to traffic! Enjoy a different format each week with no restrictions. The $12 entry fee includes your greens fee and cart rental. Show time is 1700, tee off at 1730. Meet new people, end the workday on a good note, and, best of all, don’t sit in traffic on Thursdays anymore! Please call 451-5445
  • 1830: Return & Reunion Workshop for Spouses: MCFTB classroom, Bldg LC 4012A, Midway Park. This workshop is designed to explain, through interactive activities, what can be expected with homecoming and the reunion process. During the workshop tips are provided that will help Spouses during this time. Topics covered include Communication, Deployment Stress, Re-Integration, expectations and the Return of Intimacy. Please pre-register by calling 451-0176.
New River:
 
  • 0800: New River Welcome Aboard Brief: New River Enlisted Club. Welcome Aboard Briefs are an opportunity for newcomers aboard MCAS New River to become oriented with their new duty station and the surrounding community. In accordance with MCO and ASO 1754.2A all E7 and below and 0-4 and below are required to attend, however, all military, dependents, and DoD personnel are welcome to come. For more information call Marine & Family Programs at 449-5258.
  • 0830: His Needs/Her Needs Workshop: AS-232, New River MCFTB. This class is designed to help couples understand how to better communicate with each other and build a stronger marriage. Great for couples after a deployment or long separation. For more information or to register, call 449-5343
  • 1000: Pre-School Story Time at Station Library! Come join us as we read stories, make crafts, and play games. Open to all dependents 3 - 5 years. Call 449-6715 for more information. 
  • 1030: LINKS for Parents and Extended Family Members: Rm 123, Camp Geiger Ivy Hall. L.I.N.K.S. for Marine parents and extended family members focuses on parents and the extended family new to the Marine Corps community. The program offers an orientation to the Marine Corps lifestyle, helping the participant better understand the unique challenges military life often presents. With an increased level of understanding comes an increased ability to provide support and advice as the parent or family member of a Marine. For more information call 449-5343/4676.
  • 1800: FREE YOUTH BOWLING LOCK-IN! New River Bowling Center. Sign ups start 1 week prior to the event by calling the Fitness Center at 449-0294. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Limited to the first 100 participants to register. The deadline for call-in reservations will be noon on August 11. Open to authorized patrons 5 - 12. Advance sign ups are encouraged. Parents must fill out light paperwork before child enters the event.
  • 1800: Mad Libs & Pancakes: Station Library. Come join us for some Open Mic-Puppetry and Mad Lib Skits put on by yourself and fellow peers. BRING A FRIEND! Pancakes will be served. Register at 449-6715 by August 8. Open to authorized patrons 10 - 17 years old.

  12 August- Friday

  • 1730: While We Wait Club - GAME NIGHT!: AS-232. New River MCFTB. Children of military families experience a profound impact emotionally as their parent cycles through deployment. This club like atmosphere will be a safe place for children to do "In the Midst" activities. This month the theme will be "Game Night." We will be creating items to send to loved ones who are deployed, playing games, and doing fun activities that emphasize cooperation. Open to all authorized children entering 1st grade through rising 6th grade who have a parent deployed or away. Call 449-5343 to reserve your spot today! Space is limited!
  • 1900: SMP KAREOKE Contest!: New River Enlisted Club. Let your inner idol shine during this fantastic fun time! Join us for a free karaoke night, watch your friends strut their stuff or do a little performing of your own! And as an extra special bonus this month, prizes will be awarded to the best and most entertaining singers!
13 August- Saturday
Camp Lejeune:


  • 2000: SEASIDE CINEMA! Family Friendly Movie. Onslow Beach Enlisted Pavilion.  FREE family-friendly movies at the beach! Open to all authorized patrons. Meet at the Enlisted Pavilion. For more info, call 910-440-6546 Click here to view the flyer! 


New River:

  •   0630: SMP Myrtle Beach Trip! Departs from New River Enlisted Club. Enjoy a totally FREE trip to Myrtle Beach! The seats for this trip are very limited, so stop by the Enlisted Club today to get your name on the list! Rotate between the beach and the Boardwalk or enjoy one of several tours and discount ticket offers. The registration deadline for this event is Monday, 1 August. We will depart the E-Club at 0800 and will return around 2400 that evening.
  • 2100: UFC Fight Night! New River Enlisted Club. Check out UFC Pay Per View #133, Evans vs. Davis. Enjoy free food while supplies last and great drink specials all night long!! 

  14August - Sunday
Camp Lejeune:


  • 1130: Low Country Boil - Onslow Beach Gazebo. Enjoy a traditional Low County meal of shrimp, kielbasa, red potatoes, corn on the cob, roll, side salad, apple cobbler, and iced tea. Cost: $10/large, $6/reg. Must purchase tickets in advance by phone or at the Onslow Beach Reservations Office by 8 Aug. Event is open to all authorized patrons. For more info, call 910-440-6546.
  • 1400: FREE Movie Matinee! "Tangled": Camp Johnson Library. Bring the family out for a FREE movie! Tangled • PG Open to all authorized patrons. Camp Johnson Library- 450-0844, Light refreshments served. 
  • 1700: Kayak Fishing on Courthouse Bay: Courthouse Bay Marina. Cost is $5.00 and includes a kayak and guide. Bring your fishing gear! Meet at the Marina. Register and pay at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge Memorial Field House. First come; first served; space limited. Open to all authorized patrons ages 12 and up. Camp Lejeune:
  • 1500: Emergency Preparedness Workshop: MCFTB office, Bldg LC 4102 A, Midway Park. This two hour interactive workshop will enable you to be better prepared for potential natural and manmade hazards that can threaten your life. Knowledge is confidence and confidence begins with being informed.  Please register for this workshop by calling 451-0176.



New River:
