Events, Workshops, and Activities aboard Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River!

  29 August - Tuesday
Camp Lejeune:


  • 1700: Kayak in the Sun: Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18. 

New River:
  • 0900: 4 Lenses for Re-integration: Bldg AS-232, MCFTB. One of the most valuable tools you can learn is to look with understanding into the heart of another. This training is specifically designed for this purpose. Used properly, the principles you will discover in the workshop will empower you to improve the personal relationships in your life. Please come and learn different techniques to help strengthen you family bond and create a successful reunion. Open to all authorized couples who have experienced a Homecoming in the last 3 months and are in the process of reintegration. Call 449-5343 to pre-register. FREE onsite childcare available with advanced registration.

  • 0830: How to Avoid Falling for a Jerk or Jerkette: Bldg 302, Health Promotions. Think you have what it takes to select the right partner for a great life-long relationship? “How to Avoid Falling For a Jerk or Jerkette” is designed to help singles and singles-again of all ages with partner selection. Please join us as we empower you to build healthier relationships through the journey of picking a lifetime partner! This free workshop is open all ID cardholders.   • SMP Lazy Lounge Lizards! Join us for lazy days in the lounge; kick back, relax and de-stress with movie madness, X-Box live tournaments, games and tons of fun in the new SMP lounge! 
  • 1730: Kids N Deployment: Ice Cream Social: AS-232, New River MCFTB. Two workshops shops that run at the same time. One for parents and one for children 5 years and older. These workshops are designed to help parents and children learn effective tips on how to get their deployment off to a positive start. Free childcare for children under 5with advanced registration. Call 449-5343 for more information.

  • 0900: Turning an Interview into a Job: Russell Marine & Family Services Center, Bldg 40, Rm 106. This workshop provides information and guidance on the interview process, frequently asked and difficult questions, proper dress, body language and other topics related to the interview.   • 1300: Skills Assessment & Resume Writing Tips class: Career Resource Training Center Bldg 4014 E Midway Park. The workshop provides students with resources that can help them assess their skills and to provide students with guidelines to write a resume.  For more information call, 451-3212, e-mail
  • 1700: Twisted Thursdays at Paradise Point Golf Course:  Want to skip traffic on Thursday afternoons? Stop by Paradise Point Golf Course every Thursday for Twisted Thursdays and say goodbye to traffic! Enjoy a different format each week with no restrictions. The $12 entry fee includes your greens fee and cart rental. Show time is 1700, tee off at 1730. Meet new people, end the workday on a good note, and, best of all, don’t sit in traffic on Thursdays anymore! Please call 451-5445

  • 0900: Budget for Baby Workshop: Bldg 524 Workforce Learning Center, Corner of McHugh & O Street.The Budget for Baby workshop will teach budgeting techniques & the impact a baby has on a family's finances. A FREE layette is available to all USMC/USN families who attend that class and are expecting a baby. The layettes contain brand name infant items and a handmade blanket.   • 1130: EMFP Meet & Greet: Russell Marine & Family Services Center, Bldg 40, Rm 136. Exceptional Family Member Program will be hosting a Meet & Greet gathering the first Friday of every month. Come meet other EFMP families and learn about resources available on base. Free childcare will be available with advance reservation- call 451-2672. Refreshments will be provided.   • 1730: Video Game Duel at Tarawa Terrace Community Center: FREE fun for all ages in this Family vs. Family video game battle! Enjoy video games on the BIG MOVIE SCREEN plus Madden NFL 11 Tournament for ages 14-17. Open to authorized patrons.   •  (Weather Permitting, check for updates) -1000: Fossil Fair: Onslow Beach Enlisted Pavilion Area.FREE! All ages welcome! See cool fossils, find your own fossils and learn all about fossils. Event is open to authorized patrons. No registration required. Event is made possible by the Lyman Trust Fund. For more information, please call 910-440-6546. View the flyer!
  • 1800: O'Club End of Summer Pool Party! Join us for our final pool party of the season! We’ll be offering BYOS (Burn Your Own Steak) so you can grill and chill out poolside before we close the pool on 5 Sep. Reservations for dinner recommended call 451-2465 opt 2.
