Events, Workshops, and Activities aboard Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River!


  2 August - Tuesday
Camp Lejeune:


  • 0830: Stress Management Workshop: Bldg 302 - Health Promotions. Learning to identify the causes and symptoms of stress can help you successfully manage daily hassles and major life stressors. Discover new ways to relieve stress and begin the journey towards being stress free. This free workshop is open all ID cardholders. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register. 
  • 1000: Well Baby Clinic: MCCS Tarawa Terrace Community Center. The Well Baby Clinic is sponsored by our Visiting Nurses who are there to weigh & measure your child as well as answer any questions about your child's health. The clinic also offers a FREE clothing exchange and open to all military families with military ID card. Call 451-5346/5584 for more information.  
  • 1700: Kayak in the Sun: Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18.

New River:

  • 0730: Pre-Sep/TAP Class: New River Staff NCO Club. To schedule this class, contact your Unit Transition Counselor. Call 449-5256 for more information
  • 1300: Stress & Anger Management Classes, Series 3, Part 4 of 4: AS-90 Marine & Family Services. Learn to identify our anger style and find practical ways to manage “out-of-control” emotions. Open to all authorized patrons. Pre-registration required at 449-6110.




  3 August- Wednesday
Camp Lejeune:
 

  • 0830: Anger Management Workshop- Health Promotions, Bldg 302. Out of control rage and angry actions cause hurt, pain, and distress. Understanding the root cause of anger can help you transform your life. Learn how to discharge and express anger in appropriate ways. Move towards managing your anger instead of letting your anger control you. This free workshop is open all ID cardholders. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register.

New River:
  • 0730: Pre-Sep/TAP Class: New River Staff NCO Club. To schedule this class, contact your Unit Transition Counselor. Call 449-5256 for more information 
  • 0800: Domestic Violence Training Class: AS-90 Marine & Family Programs. The workshop's goal is the prevention and awareness of domestic violence. The Family Advocacy Program representatives shall provide education, support and awareness information aimed at fostering greater understanding of the risk factors and dynamics of child and domestic abuse. Emphasis is on the prevention, recognition, prompt notification and reporting and availability of responsive services. Special attention should be placed on training military leaders in identifying signs of child and domestic violence and appropriately use FAP referral procedures to address the needs of family violence.   • 0830: Pre-Marital Workshop: AS-232. MCFTB. This workshop for engaged couples is designed to provide insights and knowledge of the marriage relationship. Discuss topics such as investing in your marriage, what predicts divorce, communication, finanancial responsibility, in-laws and dangerous behavior that all impact the relationship. 4 August- Thursday

  • 0800: Before "I Do": Marriage Foundation Workshop - Day 1: MCFTB Office Training Room, LC-4012A (Midway Park Marine & Family Annex). This two-day interactive class teaches couples how to thrive at marriage. Couples will definitely gain a greater understanding of one another, plus learn how to protect and strengthen their love for each other, setting them on course for greater marital success. The Before “I Do” workshop is designed for; engaged couples or couples married less than three years. Call 451-0176 to register. 
  • 0900: Making the Right Move - PCS Workshop!: Bldg 40 - Russell Marine & Family Services, MCCS Relocation Assistance Program Classroom. This workshop is designed to assist military and family members when making a PCS move within the United States. Topics covered include: travel and pay entitlements, shipping personal property, travel tips, moving with pets, finding appropriate housing, Military OneSource, Military Home Front, and accessing services at the new duty station. 
  • 1300: Taking Control of Your Finances: Bldg 302, Holcomb Blvd. This interactive training session covers the basics of starting a personal financial plan. Participants focus on developing realistic and measurable personal financial goals. Maintaining a workable budget to include savings, understanding military pay, and managing your credit/checkbook are further explored. All ID cardholders can register for this free workshop, please call 910-451-2865.
  • 1300: Kayak in the Sun. Onslow Beach ICW. Enjoy a FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18. 
  • 1700: Twisted Thursdays at Paradise Point Golf Course:  Want to skip traffic on Thursday afternoons? Stop by Paradise Point Golf Course every Thursday for Twisted Thursdays and say goodbye to traffic! Enjoy a different format each week with no restrictions. The $12 entry fee includes your greens fee and cart rental. Show time is 1700, tee off at 1730. Meet new people, end the workday on a good note, and, best of all, don’t sit in traffic on Thursdays anymore! Please call 451-5445
  • 1830: A Taste of Summer Wines: Paradise Point O Club. Come experience a taste of summer wines. We’ll pair the wines with nice appetizers for you to enjoy. Have fun discovering a new wine to add to your personal collection. Special prices on any wine purchases for those who attend. Open to all authorized O'Club patrons, $20 per person. Please make your required reservations by calling 451-2465 ext 2.

  • 1300: Healthy Homes & Healthy Children: AS-90, Marine & Family Services. This is a three hour class to educate parents/step-parents, significant caregivers about the impact of family violence and abuse on children and the impacct of sexually inappropriate material, other media, and TV violence, etc. Pre-registration is required. Reserve your class seat by calling 449-6110.

  • 1900: FREE! Teen Bowling Lock-in: New River Bowling Center. Sign ups start 1 week prior to the event by calling the Fitness Center at 449-0294. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Limited to the first 100 participants to register. The deadline for call-in reservations will be noon on August 4. Open to authorized patrons 13 - 17. Advance sign ups are encouraged. Participants must have an ID card or must be signed in and out by a parent.

Camp Lejeune:

  • 0900: Budget for Baby Workshop: Workforce Learning Center, Bldg 524 (Corner of McHugh and O). The Budget for Baby workshop will teach budgeting techniques & the impact a baby has on a family's finances. A FREE layette is available to all USMC/USN families who attend that class and are expecting a baby. The layettes contain brand name infant items and a handmade blanket. Call 451-5346/5584 to register.
  • 1130: EFMP Meet & Greet: Russell Marine & Family Services, Bldg 40, Rm 136.  Exceptional Family Member Program will be hosting a Meet & Greet gathering the first Friday of every month. Come meet other EFMP families and learn about resources available on base. Free childcare will be available with advance reservation- call 451-2672. Refreshments will be provided.   • 1400: MAGIC SHOW! Jeff Jones: Marston Pavilion. FREE fun for all ages! Come join our summer finale celebration for the Summer Reading Program whether you're enrolled or not. Enjoy the wonders and interactive displays of Jeff Jones’ Magic Show. Open to all military family members who want to have some amazing fun. Call 451-3026 for more info

  • 0900: Smooth Move Workshop: AS-232, Marine & Family Annex. The Smooth Move class is designed to provide information to service members and their families with PCS orders to a CONUS or OCONUS duty station. Focus is on pre-departure preparation, PCS entitlements and benefits, movement of household goods, temporary and permanent housing, sponsorship and the the relocation assistance program. Open to all active duty members and their spouses. Call 449-5258 or email kathy.peterpaul@usmc.mil to register.
  • 1830: Parents Night Out! Child Development Center. Open to ages 6 weeks - 12 years old. Registration required at least 1 week prior to event at the New River CDC. Cost is $3.00 per hour. All children must be registered with the CY&T Resource & Referral office. For more information, call 449-6712.  
  • 1930: SMP POOL PARTY AT THE STATION POOL! Join SMP for an adults-only pool party and tons of fun, games and free food! Call 449-5145 for more information.
6 August- Saturday
Camp Lejeune:


  • 1100: Onslow Beach Customer Appreciation Day! FREE! Fun for kids and adults! Rock climbing wall, inflatables, music, door prizes, fishing contest, and basketball & volleyball tournaments.   •   0630: SMP CAROWINDS TRIP! Departs from New River Enlisted Club. Just $31 reserves your seat for our next trip to the Thrill capital of the Southeast! Test your mettle on one of 13 pulse-pounding roller coasters and tons more thrill rides, or relax the day away at Boomerang Bay Water Park. Whichever your speed, we’ve got you covered! Depart the E’Club at 0630, return approximately 0130 Sunday morning. You must register by Wednesday, 3 August. Open to all active duty.

  • 2000: NFL Hall of Fame Game:  New River Enlisted Club. Join us to check out the opening of the NFL Preseason with the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams, pending resolution of the NFL labor dispute. If the game is on, we’ll be watching it!.
