****YOUTH SPORTS INDOOR/OUTDOOR SOCCER REGISTRATION****

  • 1700: Kayak in the Sun: Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18. 


New River:
  • 0900: 4 Lenses for Re-integration: Bldg AS-232, MCFTB. One of the most valuable tools you can learn is to look with understanding into the heart of another. This training is specifically designed for this purpose. Used properly, the principles you will discover in the workshop will empower you to improve the personal relationships in your life. Please come and learn different techniques to help strengthen you family bond and create a successful reunion. Open to all authorized couples who have experienced a Homecoming in the last 3 months and are in the process of reintegration. Call 449-5343 to pre-register. These workshops are designed to help parents and children learn effective tips on how to get their deployment off to a positive start. Free childcare for children under 5with advanced registration.   • 1700: Kayak in the Sun: Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18. 
  • 1830: Emergency Preparedness Workshop! MCFTB office, Bldg LC 4102 A, Midway Park. MCFTB presents “Emergency Preparedness.” Safety begins with awareness. This two hour interactive workshop will enable you to be better prepared for potential natural and manmade hazards that can threaten your life. Knowledge is confidence and confidence begins with being informed. Hints for creating an emergency plan and an emergency supply kit will also be covered! Don't miss it! 

  • 1830: Suicide Awareness for Families. Rm 106. Russell Marine & Family Services - Building 40.  Never leaving a Marine behind extends beyond the battlefield and beyond the base. Strong, knowledgeable, and aware families can identify when someone is in need, and step in to help before it’s too late. It is often difficult to recognize the signs of severe depression among adults and adolescents. Gaining a better understanding of the problem, and learning what tools and resources are available can help save lives. This free workshop is open all ID cardholders.   • 1830: Challenging Children Workshop! Functional Communication. Russell Marine & Family Services (Bldg 40), Rm 139. This free workshop will provide techniques for parents, childcare providers and educators to manage difficult behaviors. This free monthly workshop held on the 4th Tuesday of every month, is open to all ID card holders. Free childcare information will be shared upon registration please call 451-4103. (If you can’t make the evening workshops, we’ll be offering a daytime series as well. Please call 451-4103 for more information.)

  • 0900: Extreme Everyday Couponing for Real Families!: Bldg AS-232, MCFTB. Save Money in today's economy by using available coupons. This Workshop will include a Couponing workshop offered by CAT5 (a Couponing Club) and a section on budgeting as well as a "coupon swap". Open to all authorized patrons.   • 0930: Budget for Baby Workshop: Bldg 232, New River Navy-Marine Corps Relief. Learn how to budget for the arrival of your little one. This class is offered by Navy Marine Corps Relief Society and is free to all authorized patrons. Both parents are encouraged to attend, but it is not mandatory. Call 449-6431 at least 48 hours prior to the class to reserve your spot.
  •  1900: SMP: Calling All Pool Sharks Tournament! New River Enlisted Club. Got pool skills? We wanna see ‘em in our great free monthly billiards tournament. Stop by and sign up today and the winner will walk away with a fantastic prize!

  • 1100: Challenging Children Workshop - Choosing Your Battles: Bldg 40, Rm 139. Russell Marine & Family Services. What can you do when your child starts screaming in a crowded area for no reason? How should you react? How can we help our children have better behavior in any situation? This daytime workshop presented by Butterfly Effects for parents, educators and childcare providers will provide insight into the actions of those more challenging children and what they can do to alleviate some of the problems.   •   0900: Babysitter's Training Class. New River Youth and Teen Activity Center. Babysitter's Training is an American Red Cross Certification class. If you are between the ages of 11 and 18 years, and would like to acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence to care for infants and school-aged children, this class is for you. The training combines video, activities, hands-on training and discussions for a complete learning experience. The babysitter's course helps you interview for a babysitting job, choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games, learn diapering and feeding techniques, handle bedtime issues, and learn tips for having a safe babysitting experience. We are now also offering CPR and First Aid with this class. This class has a non-refundable $35 registration fee due by August 19. For more information or to register, call 449-6711.

  • 1100: Bicycle Safety Course. New River Youth & Teen Activity Center. Bring out your bicycles and helmets to join us for an afternoon of safety related information. PMO will be providing goody bags and give away. There will be a bicycle obstacle course and inspection certificates. Youth will also be able to register their bicycle and receive a license in case your bicycle is ever lost. Light refreshments while supplies last. Open to authorized patrons 4 - 14 years old.   • 0830: Stress Management Workshop: Bldg 302, Holcomb Blvd, Health Promotions. Learning to identify the causes and symptoms of stress can help you successfully manage daily hassles and major life stressors. Discover new ways to relieve stress and begin the journey towards being stress free. This free workshop is open all ID cardholders. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register.

This popular free workshop provides consumer information about what to look for when purchasing a home. A financial advisor is also on hand to provide information about mortgages, interest rates, VA loans and more! A reference library is also available.   • SMP NYC TRIP REGISTRATION DEADLINE! Get your name on our list NOW for this great trip! Just $200 gets you transportation, 3 nights hotel and an unlimited ride subway pass for New York City! The trip will take place over Labor Day weekend, 2-5 September. Open to all active duty. 
  • 0830: Baby Boot Camp - Day 1 of 2: AS-232, Marine & Family Programs Annex. Mom and Dad learn how to make a smooth transition into parenthood. This is a hands-on experience for parents who are pregnant or have new arrivals. Class will cover information from birth to one year. For more information call 449-4866/4867.   • 0900: Family Readiness Assistant/Advisor Training: AS-232, MCFTB. This class is for spouses who are interested in becoming volunteers for their unit and assisting the unit Family Readiness Officer. As a Commander's communication tool, Family Readiness Assistants support the unit by keeping families of Marines better informed about the mission and tasks of that unit. This training is open to all Marine spouses. Topics covered include: communication and resources for families.

This two-day interactive class teaches couples how to thrive at marriage. Couples will definitely gain a greater understanding of one another, plus learn how to protect and strengthen their love for each other, setting them on course for greater marital success.   • 0900: Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police Department Testing FREE: AS-233 New River Chapel Annex. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department will be administering the Darany Entry Level Police Officer Examination on MCAS New River FREE OF CHARGE. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in pursuing a Law Enforcement career to assess where their strengths and weaknesses are. There will be a short presentation before the test begins and a period for questions and answers. You do not need to be interested in staying in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area to take this test. Open to all active duty, DoD personnel, veterans and their spouses. Pre-registration is required by August 17 at 449- 6110.
  • 1300: Effects of Divorce/Remarriage on Children: This is a three hour class to educate parents about the possible impact of divorce on children when they are coping with the painful and agonizing breakup of their family. Topics of discussion include typical reactions of children of different ages, things children need to know and hear, tips for single parenting again, and what both parents can do to help their children deal with and adjust to the losses and changes involved. Issues surrounding the remarriage of one or both parents will also be presented and tips to help step-parents and children adjust to a new family. Call 449-6110 to reserve your seat. Camp Lejeune:


  • 0930: Ready, Set, GROW! Workshop Series - Making Effective Decisions: Commander Charles K. Springle Training Center Bldg 797 (behind Russell Marine & Family Programs Center, Bldg 40). Learn an eight step decision making process, recognize the “Do’s & Don’ts” of decision making, and identify characteristics of effective decision makers. Free childcare information and process will be shared upon registration. Each 90 minute session is the same. Call the Community Counseling Center at 451-2864 to register for the time slot that best fits your schedule. Open to all authorized patrons. This will help you create an action plan for your family in case of an emergency. Leave the class with a sense of security that you will know what to do in case of a weather emergency. This workshop is designed to explain, through interactive activities, what can be expected with homecoming and the reunion process. During the workshop tips are provided that will help Spouses during this time. Topics covered include Communication, Deployment Stress, Re-Integration, expectations and the Return of Intimacy.   • 0800: New River Welcome Aboard Brief: New River Enlisted Club. Welcome Aboard Briefs are an opportunity for newcomers aboard MCAS New River to become oriented with their new duty station and the surrounding community. In accordance with MCO and ASO 1754.2A all E7 and below and 0-4 and below are required to attend, however, all military, dependents, and DoD personnel are welcome to come.   • 0830: His Needs/Her Needs Workshop: AS-232, New River MCFTB. This class is designed to help couples understand how to better communicate with each other and build a stronger marriage. Great for couples after a deployment or long separation. For more information or to register, call 449-5343
  • 1000: Pre-School Story Time at Station Library! Come join us as we read stories, make crafts, and play games. Open to all dependents 3 - 5 years. Call 449-6715 for more information.

L.I.N.K.S. for Marine parents and extended family members focuses on parents and the extended family new to the Marine Corps community. The program offers an orientation to the Marine Corps lifestyle, helping the participant better understand the unique challenges military life often presents. With an increased level of understanding comes an increased ability to provide support and advice as the parent or family member of a Marine. For more information call 449-5343/4676.
  • 1800: FREE YOUTH BOWLING LOCK-IN! New River Bowling Center. Sign ups start 1 week prior to the event by calling the Fitness Center at 449-0294. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Limited to the first 100 participants to register. The deadline for call-in reservations will be noon on August 11. Open to authorized patrons 5 - 12. Advance sign ups are encouraged. Parents must fill out light paperwork before child enters the event.
  • 1800: Mad Libs & Pancakes: Station Library. Come join us for some Open Mic-Puppetry and Mad Lib Skits put on by yourself and fellow peers. BRING A FRIEND! Pancakes will be served. Register at 449-6715 by August 8. Open to authorized patrons 10 - 17 years old.

  • 1730: While We Wait Club - GAME NIGHT!: AS-232. New River MCFTB. Children of military families experience a profound impact emotionally as their parent cycles through deployment. This club like atmosphere will be a safe place for children to do "In the Midst" activities. This month the theme will be "Game Night." We will be creating items to send to loved ones who are deployed, playing games, and doing fun activities that emphasize cooperation.   • 1900: SMP KAREOKE Contest!: New River Enlisted Club. Let your inner idol shine during this fantastic fun time! The seats for this trip are very limited, so stop by the Enlisted Club today to get your name on the list! Rotate between the beach and the Boardwalk or enjoy one of several tours and discount ticket offers. The registration deadline for this event is Monday, 1 August. We will depart the E-Club at 0800 and will return around 2400 that evening.
