Events, Workshops, and Activities aboard Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River!

May 31 - Tuesday
Camp Lejeune:

  • 1700: Kayak in the Sun : Camp Johnson. Behind Building M-104. FREE scenic 1-hour guided kayak tour of Camp Lejeune's waterways. Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18.

1 June - Wednesday

******Registration Period for Teen Squad Summer Camp*******
******First payment due for Whitewater Rafting Trip to WV*****

Camp Lejeune:
  • 1830: Beyond the Brief Workshop Series, Topic #2 - MCFTB Office, Bldg LC4012-A Butler Drive, Midway Park. Group discussions and exercises will help you make an educated decision on whether to stay here or go "home" during deployment. This is a “resource rich” workshop to enlighten participants to the vast resources available to them in the local area. The 2nd hour focuses on simple yet powerful ways to keep safe. Free childcare is available - you MUST contact the Brewster Child Development Center in advance to register: (910) 450-8467. Your child must be registered with the Children, Youth & Teen Program Resource office (910) 449-9552/9563.

  • 0800: Domestic Violence Training: Marine & Family Programs Bldg AS-90. Emphasis is on the prevention, recognition, prompt notification and reporting and availability of responsive services. Special attention should be placed on training military leaders in identifying signs of child and domestic violence and appropriately use FAP referral procedures to address the needs of family violence. For more information or to register, call 449-6110.
  • 0830: Pre-marital Workshop: Marine & Family Programs Annex, AS-232. This workshop for engaged couples is designed to provide insights and knowledge of the marriage relationship. Discuss topics such as investing in your marriage, what predicts divorce, communication, finanancial responsibility, in-laws and dangerous behavior that all impact the relationship. 2 June - Thursday



***Registration Period for Teen Squad Summer Camp***
  • 1300: Taking Control of Your Finances: Bldg 302 Holcomb Blvd. An interactive workshop session that will cover the basics of starting a personal finance plan. Participants focus on developing realistic and measurable personal financial goals. Maintaining a workable budget to include savings, understanding military pay, and managing your credit/checkboo​k are further explored. All ID cardholders can register for this free workshop, please call 910-451-2865.

  • 1300: Kayak in the Sun: ONSLOW BEACH ICW. Free scenic paddling tour of Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18.


New River:
  • 0930: Crazy Care Packages: AS-232.Come create a memorable care package! You provide the items for your loved one, and we provide the packing supplies and the fun card making supplies. Children are welcome to come and help pack for mom and dad. This month's themes are: "Life's a Beach", "Hang in There", and "To Be a Kid Again". On site childcare is also available. RSVP for requirements. To register for the event, call 449-5343.
  • 1000: Pre-school Story Time at the Station Library: Come join us as we read stories, make crafts, and play games. Open to all dependents 3 - 5 years. Call 449-6715 for more information

  • 1300: Healthy Homes & Healthy Children: AS-90, Marine & Family Services. This is a three hour class to educate parents/step-pa​rents, significant caregivers about the impact of family violence and abuse on children and the impacct of sexually inappropriate material, other media, and TV violence, etc. Pre-registratio​n is required. Reserve your class seat by calling 449-6110.

3 June - Friday

Camp Lejeune:
*********REGISTRATION PERIOD FOR TEEN SQUAD SUMMER CAMP**********
  • 0900: Budget for Baby Workshop: Bldg 524, Workforce Learning Center at the corner of McHugh & O. The Budget for Baby workshop will teach budgeting techniques & the impact a baby has on a family's finances. A FREE layette is available to all USMC/USN families who attend that class and are expecting a baby. The layettes contain brand name infant items and a handmade blanket. Call 451-5346/5584 to register.
  • 1030: 16th Annual Commanding Officers Graduation Ceremony: Base Theater.  Family and friends of graduates who have completed off-duty voluntary education during 2010-2011 are invited to attend. Education awards will be distributed from the following schools: Coastal Carolina Community College, Campbell University, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, University of North Carolina Wilmington, Boston University, Webster University American Public University System, and University of Phoenix through the Base Educations services of the Education Assistance Branch, Marine & Family Programs, Marine Corps Community Services, Camp Lejeune & MCAS New River.

  • 1130: EFMP Meet & Greet: Bldg 40, Marine & Family Services. Come meet other EFMP families and learn about resources available on base. Free childcare will be available with advance reservation- call 451-2672. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, call 451-4394.

  • 1700: Kayak in the Sun: Courthouse Bay Marina. Free scenic paddling tour of Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18.


New River:

  • 0900: Smooth Move Workshop: Bldg AS-232, Marine & Family Annex. Will provide information to service members and their families with PCS orders to a CONUS or OCONUS duty station. Focus is on pre-departure preparation, PCS entitlements and benefits, movement of household goods, temporary and permanent housing, sponsorship and the the relocation assistance program. Open to all active duty members and their spouses. Call 449-5258 or email kathy.peterpaul​@usmc.mil to register.

  • 1730: While We Wait Club - A Night at the Beach: AS-233, New River Chapel Annex. This club like atmosphere will be a safe place for children to do "In the Midst" activities. This month the theme will be "A Night at the Beach." We will be participating in fun camping activities while emphasizing making positive choices and communication, creating items to send to the parent, and healthy ways to express our feelings. Open to authorized patrons grades 1 - 5 who have a parent deployed or away. Call 449-5343 to register.

  • 1830: Parents' Night Out! New River Child Development Center. Open to ages 6 weeks - 12 years old. Registration required at least 1 week prior to event at the New River CDC.   • 0900: Learn to Sail 2-Day Basic Class: Gottschalk Marina. Receive U.S. Sailing Certification upon completion of course. Open to authorized patrons age 18+.   • 0930: Tarawa Terrace Father's Day Brunch: Community Center. Get a jump start on showing your appreciation for your Dad! All kids are encouraged to bring their Dads for a special breakfast.
