********Registration for Teen Squad Summer Camp on Lejeune continues ALL WEEK!******


14 June - Tuesday
Camp Lejeune:

  • 0900: Ready, Set, Grow - Communication Skills workshop : Bldg 797, BEHIND Russell Marine & Family Services. Ever think you and your spouse speak different languages? This FREE workshop, taught by licensed professionals from Military & Family Life Consultants, can help you; identify the components of communication, recognize roadblocks to communication and learn how to communicate more effectively. Free childcare information and process will be shared upon registration. Each 90 minute session is the same. Call the Counseling Services Branch at 451-2864 to register for the time slot that best fits your schedule.
  • 1000: Well-Baby Clinic: Midway Park Chapel. Visiting Nurses will be on hand to weigh & measure your child as well as answer any questions about your child's health. The clinic also offers a FREE clothing exchange and open to all military families with military ID card.

  • 1700: Kayak in the Sun: Camp Johnson, behind Bldg M104. FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18.
New River:
  • 0730: Pre-Sep/TAP Class: New River Officers Club. Call 449-5256 for more information

  • 1630: Keystone & Torch Club for Teens: New River Youth & Teen Activity Center (AS-612). Open to ages 11-18.

  • 1700: Triple Play Challenge: New River Youth & Teen Activity Center (AS-612)

  • 1700: Adult Intramural Soccer Organizational Meeting: New River Fitness Center. New River sponsors a team, annually, to participate in the Camp Lejeune intramural soccer league, which starts June 27, 2011. The team will be open to all active duty, dependents, and DoD personnel stationed aboard New River who are 18 and older. Call 449-5609/5844 for more information.

  • 1800: SMP Game Show Night! New River Enlisted Club. You never know what you might have to do on Game Show Night; it could be trivia, you might "Make a Deal" or guess if the "Price is Right"! The one thing we know for sure? Fun times and great prizes are guaranteed! Open to all active duty and their guests 18 and over. 449-5145 for information.



15 June - Wednesday
Camp Lejeune:
  • 0830: Healthy Communication in Relationships - Health Promotions, Bldg 302 Holcomb Blvd. What prevents you from communicating effectively? Whether it’s baggage from the past, or good old fashioned differences between male and female communication styles—there can be lots of barriers that get in the way of positive, healthy interaction. Learn about the critical differences in how males and females think and react to circumstances, and gain a better understanding of in-depth programs available on base that are designed to promote healthier interaction among couples.   • 1830: Beyond the Brief Workshop Series! MCFTB Office Bldg LC 4012-A Butler Drive, Midway Park. Participants learn that the CACO process is a part of the military culture and that every spouse should understand how the process works, when it is implemented and why it is carried out in the manner it is. Clearly yet sensitively, all aspects are discussed, notification through benefits. This workshop is a must for all spouses, and for all situations.   • 0830: Baby Boot Camp - Day 1 of 2: AS-232 - Marine & Family Programs Annex. Mom and Dad learn how to make a smooth transition into parenthood. This is a hands-on experience for parents who are pregnant or have new arrivals. Class will cover information from birth to one year. For more information call 449-4866/4867.   • 0830: Financial Management/ Car Buying Workshop: AS-90, Marine & Family Services. Take this workshop and explore the options and garner a better understanding when purchasing a vehicle. For more information, call 449-6110

  • 0900: Family Readiness Assistant/Advisor Training: AS-232. Want to assist your unit's Family Readiness Officer? As a Commander's communication tool, Family Readiness Assistants support the unit by keeping families of Marines better informed about the mission and tasks of that unit. This training is open to all Marine spouses. Topics covered include: communication and resources for families. For more information call 449-5343.

  • 1730: Triple Play - Healthy Habits: New River Youth & Teen. Ages 6-18.

  • 1800: Father's Day Crafts at the Station Library. Join us as we create gifts for the dad's at the Station Library. This event is free and open to all authorized patrons 4 - 8 years old. Pre-register by June 10 at the library or 449-6715.

  • 1300: Kayak in the Sun: Onslow Beach ICW.  FREE scenic one-hour guided tour through Camp Lejeune's waterways! Register at the Outdoor Adventures Office in Goettge memorial Field House. First come, first served. Space is limited. Kayaking is open to all authorized patrons ages 10 and up. Parent/Guardian must accompany children ages 10-18

  • 1700: Twisted Thursdays at Paradise Point Golf Course: Skip Thursday evening traffic! Enjoy a different format each week with no restrictions. The $12 entry fee includes your greens fee and cart rental. Show time is 1700, tee off at 1730. Meet new people, end the workday on a good note, and, best of all, don’t sit in traffic on Thursdays anymore! Please call 451-5445

The program offers an orientation to the Marine Corps lifestyle, helping the participant better understand the unique challenges military life often presents. With an increased level of understanding comes an increased ability to provide support and advice as the parent or family member of a Marine. For more information call 449-5343/4676.

  • 1300: Effects of divorce/remarriage on children: AS-90, Marine & Family Services. This is a three hour class to educate parents about the possible impact of divorce on children when they are coping with the painful and agonizing breakup of their family. Topics of discussion include typical reactions of children of different ages, things children need to know and hear, tips for single parenting again, and what both parents can do to help their children deal with and adjust to the losses and changes involved. Issues surrounding the remarriage of one or both parents will also be presented and tips to help step-parents and children adjust to a new family. Call 449-6110 to reserve your seat.

  • 1630: Fine Arts & Photography Club: New River Youth & Teen Center. Open to ages 6-18.

  • 0830: Relax! Bldg 302, Holcomb Blvd. Slow down. Take a rest. Breathe. Relax. Discover new ways to let go. Find ways to enter into deep, peaceful, mindful relaxation. Learn new techniques that will help you give your stress wings and let it all fly away. This free workshop is open all ID cardholders. Please call Health Promotion, 451-2865 to register.

  • 0900: Budget for Baby Workshop: Workforce Learning Center, Bldg 524 (Corner of McHugh and O). The Budget for Baby workshop will teach budgeting techniques & the impact a baby has on a family's finances. A FREE layette is available to all USMC/USN families who attend that class and are expecting a baby. The layettes contain brand name infant items and a handmade blanket. 19 June - Sunday - FATHER'S DAY!!!
Camp Lejeune:
  • 0930: Father's Day Breakfast Buffet at Smedley's: Treat Dad to a special breakfast for Father’s Day! Our breakfast buffet will feature an omelet station as a tasty treat for our Fathers.   • 1300: Emergency Preparedness Workshop: MCFTB office, Bldg LC 4102 A, Midway Park. This two hour interactive workshop will enable you to be better prepared for potential natural and manmade hazards that can threaten your life. Knowledge is confidence and confidence begins with being informed. Topics covered: Emergency Preparedness against hazards that threaten military families, Creating an Emergency Plan, Creating an Emergency Supply Kit, Knowing where and when to evacuate, Actions to take after a disaster, Helping children cope with disasters


  • 0830: Parenting Classes: New River Chapel Annex. This four day class provides "hands-on" information for parents to make informed and responsible decisions for their toddlers and young children.
