Events, Activities, and Workshops on Camp Lejeune & MCAS New River

6 March -
         Camp Lejeune:
  • MFCU Intercollegiate Warm-Up Tournament. Come earn a spot on the Team Camp Lejeune 2011 Intercollegiate! $25 Entry fee includes awards, prizes, and a meal on Sunday. Does not include cart or greens fees.
  • 1300: Level 2 Learn to Kayak Class: Learning advanced strokes and paddling concepts including boat edging & bracing, one-man rescue, wet exit, and more. Ages 15+. Cost $30 including all equipment. Call 910.451.1440 or visit mccslejeune.com/outdoor to register.

  • 0930: Ready, Set, Grow! Maintaining a healthy marriage. at Bldg 797 (behind Russell Family Services Center). Learn tools to communicate effectively & feel connected with your loved one while they are deployed. This workshop is free! Learn how your relationship can stay strong, even when you have to be apart! Call 451-2864 to register and learn about the free childcare being offered.

  • 0930: Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours - Part IV- Marine & Family Annex (AS-232) FREE! Workshop based on teachings of Dr. Kevin Leman. Learn to face behavioral challenges successfully. Call  449-4702 for more information.
  • 1300: Stress & Anger Management Class - Part 1 of 4: Bldg AS-90, Marine & Family Services. Are you feeling overwhelmed and stressed out? Come learn some basic principles of stress management! Call 449-6110.

  • 0830: Healthy Communication in Relationships: Bldg 302 - Health Promotions. Learn the differences in how males and females communicate and react differently to circumstances. Break down the barriers that get in the way of positive interaction. Free! Call 451-2865 to register.

  • 1830: Ready, Set, Grow! Maintaining a healthy marriage. (Same class as Tuesday at a different time for your scheduling convenience!) at Bldg 797 (behind Russell Family Services Center).   • 1830: Juggling During Deployment - MCFTB Office Bldg LC 4012-A Butler Drive, Midway Park. It's easy to lose balance when your loved one is gone and you're managing so many roles! This workshop will help you learn to maintain family time, relationships, work, and fun. It will provide tools to help organize and prioritize life's events and even help with managing stress!   • Customer Appreciation Day @ Paradise Point Golf Course

  • 0830: Alcohol 101 Workshop. At Bldg 302 - Health Promotions. What's binge drinking and what's the big deal? When is the next drink too much? Learn to prevent alcohol related tragedies in your life! This is a FREE workshop open to ID card holders. Call 451-2865 to register.

  • 1100:   Ready, Set, Grow! Maintaining a healthy marriage. (Same class as Tuesday & Wednesday at a different time for your scheduling convenience!) at Bldg 797 (behind Russell Family Services Center).   • 1300: Car buying - Getting a fair deal workshop: Bldg 302, Holcomb Blvd, Camp Lejeune. An interactive training session designed to help you meet your financial goals. Learn your legal rights as a consumer, review sales tactics and advertising techniques in order to protect yourself from scams. This workshop is FREE and open to ID card holders.   • 1500-1900: THE PUZZLE! Don't miss this resource fair! Bldg 40, Russell Marine & Family Services Center Auditorium. Want to know what resources are out there to support you during this deployment? Don't have time to drive all over town to investigate your options? MCCS is bringing them together under one roof! View the flyer here!

  • 1830: Officers' Club Wine Tasting Event featuring Argentinian wine. Paradise Point Officers' Club. Wines will be paired with appetizers for you to enjoy. Please make your required reservations by calling 451-2465 ext 2.

  New River:
  • 0800: Welcome Aboard Brief: New River Enlisted Club. Become oriented with your new duty station and the surrounding community! In accordance with MCO and ASO 1754.2A all E7 and below and 0-4 and below are required to attend, and military dependents are welcome too!

  • 1300: How NOT to Marry a Jerk Workshop: Bldg AS-232, Marine & Family Annex. Learn dating skills based on the Random Attachment Model. Please pre-register by calling 449-5343.

  • 1900: SMP: Movie Night! Station Theater. Doors open at 1830, show starts at 1900! Active duty and their guests 18+

11 March
      Camp Lejeune:
  • 0800: BASIC: Building Alcohol Skills Intervention Course: Health Promotions, Bldg 302. "Train the Trainer". This class is built to assist NCOs in providing guidance to junior troops on how to drink responsibly. FREE workshop open to active duty military. Call 451-2865 to register.

  • 1800: Super Hero You - Kids in the Midst: Free workshop designed for kids 4-18 in the midst of military life. Kids will have tons of fun while learning about good nutrition and exercise, good character, dealing with stress, and more! Call 451-0176 to register and to get the secret location of where this super event takes place.

  • 1830: FREE MOVIE NIGHT! At Harriotte B Smith library on main side Camp Lejeune. They will be showing Red rated PG-13.
    New River:
  • SMP: Charlotte Bobcats Trip! $65 includes transportation, lodging, and game ticket. Go have some fun! Register at the SMP office or call 449-5145.

  • Fun-filled Friday at the E-Club! Join up for prizes & more!

  • 1700: EFMP: LINKS for Kids! New River Chapel Annex AS-233. Open to all children with special needs and their siblings. Have fun and learn about the military lifestyle! Enjoy food, fun, crafts, and activities. Pre-register by March 4 at 449-4894 or email: boothgl@usmc-mccs.org

  • 1730: While We Wait Club: Chasing Leprechauns - Bldg AS- 232 Marine Corps Family Team Building. The club like atmosphere provides a safe place for "Kids N Deployment" activities. The activities will emphasize making positive choices. They will also be creating items to send to their deployed parent! Space is limited to the first 20 to register. Open to kids kindergarten-5th grade. Call 449-5343 to register.
12 March
      Camp Lejeune:
  • 1100: St. Patty's Day Picnic @ Tarawa Terrace Community Center. It's FREE! Irish-inspired picnic food, music, inflatables, games, & prizes. 

  • 1300: Jewelry Class: at Bicentennial Community Center in Watkins Village. Learn to make a bracelet & earrings. This is FREE and open to ages 10+. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Stop by the library to register, or call  451-3026

  • 1800:Officers' Wives' Club presents Basket Bingo! Marston Pavilion. Open to all base personnel.  $25 for buffet and 10 bingo cards. Cash bar all night. Proceeds to benefit OWC Charitable Distributions Fund. Happy hour & buffet begin at 1800. Bingo begins at 1900. Additional bingo cards will be available for purchase.         New River:
  • 1300: SMP Spring Barbeque!  New River Auxillary Fields. The weather is getting warm - get outside and enjoy friends and great food!
