10 Things I Learned from Military be continued

For those of you who don't already know, I've been living the military life since birth. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII.  My father was a Naval aviator (A-6 Intruders), career. My husband is a United States Marine (career). Both my brother and sister are active duty Navy as we speak. I know all the sides it's possible to know!

My goal is to post a new 10 things every week. If there are things that you have learned and would like to share, please do! I'll start a tab on the Camp Lejeune Living Facebook.

Here are a few things I've learned along the way...

  1. I am blessed.
  2. Don't let TMO pack the coffee pot. When they show up at 8am, you're going to need it to maintain your sanity.
  3. Packing boxes with sheets over them make terrific temporary end tables.
  4. Remember the toilet paper on move-in/TMO day! There's never any in the new house...and you won't be able to leave. ;-)
  5. Be everything.
  6. If possible, get your pack-out movers to label the boxes with the stuff that's in them, AND the room they were in. (i.e. Books/kids room). It makes it ALOT easier when there's hundreds of boxes coming off the truck and the movers are trying to figure out where to put them.
  7. Make sure the trash is taken out and any half empty boxes of Kleenex that you don't want to move with you are thrown away. They DO pack EVERYTHING! :-)
  8. Have a furniture marker in every color.
  9. Give thanks, pay it forward. Our spouses and their fellow servicemembers (and THEIR spouses!) give so much. A cup of coffee, a snack, and a little company mean ALOT on TMO day.
  10. Things are never as good, or bad, as they first appear. (That one's from my Dad).
