Wounded Warrior Getaway through Lone Survivor Foundation
I wanted to introduce The Lone Survivor Foundation to you today! It is especially close to my heart and has an incredible story behind it and I invite you to check out more details about the foundation at http://www.lonesurvivorfoundation.org/.
In June of 2005, a 4-man Navy SEAL team was inserted under the cover of night to do a recon mission in Afghanistan. After being discovered by the Taliban, the four fought for their lives for 5 days and Marcus Luttrell was the lone survivor of the operation. In the end, 19 special operators lost their lives in the operation. A year later, Marcus released a book about his life and about Operation Redwing titled "Lone Survivor". The book details the story about how the 4-man team captured a few Afghan goat herders and released them, only to have their position be given away. A truely amazing twist to the story is that after the 5 days of battle, Marcus' survived because he was protected and saved by a village elder. It is an incredible and awe-inspiring story that has brought true patriotism back to life in many of Marcus' fans (he has over 40,000 followers on his Facebook page).
The Lone Survivor Foundation was launched on the 5th anniversary of Operation Redwing to honor the fallen.
LSF's mission is to "welcome home, empower, and restore American wounded warriors, their families, and surviving families" as well as "call hometown USA to ACTION and inspire the American public to pay it forward".
The Lone Survivor Foundation is now working on opening a ranch retreat for wounded warriors, their families and caregivers, and their children. The retreat will create an environment of safety and healing while also including rehabilitation and wellness facilities. On over 1000 acres of Texas ranch land, the retreat will host tons of amazing programs to put our warriors on the road to wellness.
If you know a wounded warrior that could use a retreat with his/her family, LSF is now accepting submissions. They request that emails are sent to email@example.com with a brief explanation of their story. You can also find Lone Survivor Foundation on Facebook.
If you'd like to help, donations can be made through the LSF website or you can follow their Facebook page for events that benefit the organization. There is a Never Quit, Never Forget Gala in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in March!
I hope you all are faring this winter storm okay! What crazy weather we've been having for an Eastern North Carolina winter. My puppies sure love it, but I'm not so sure about the rest of the world!

I'm sure many of you have seen this already, but you are truly missing out if you haven't so I had to share. I'm looking forward to hearing Ted Williams, this homeless man from Columbus, Ohio, announce...well..anything at all! He's incredible!
This is an incredibly uplifting story and sometimes I feel like there's not enough on the news to smile about - so watch...and smile!
Well, my friends, 2011 has finally arrived - it is a time to celebrate in the blessings 2010 brought. Though the economy was tough and 2010 was a year of nail-biting for many, we made it through and we start this year wiser and more grateful than the last!
The ringing in of 2011 was especially exciting for me as I have teamed up with an incredible website company to bring you the most user-friendly and helpful real estate site Eastern North Carolina has ever seen! Brett and his team have been incredible and seem to truly understand what this area needed for real estate searching capabilities. No more guessing which city you want to search - the home page has a flash map of the whole area - click the the town by the ocean or the town in the country and search away!
These new pair of HomeFinder sites - OnslowHomeFinder.com and CampLejeuneHomeFinder.com were designed with the users in mind. For military, CampLejeuneHomeFinder.com features a PCS worksheet that was created especially for those PCSing to our area and help me better understand the needs and wants of those families in order to better serve them on those harried house-hunting visits! I am so thrilled to be able to assist our servicemembers and make their transition as easy as possible.
As always, never hesitate to email and ask questions (firstname.lastname@example.org)- about base activities and amenities, areas, real estate or otherwise. I'm here for you and I look forward to getting to know each of you as this year rolls along!
